Today my 7-mo old baby had an allergic reaction to something she ate. She broke out in hives and vomited. I felt so bad for her. She cried and had to be held to sleep. Even in her sleep she kept crying and whimpering. So this means I can't be so eager to move her off of breastfeeding and onto solids. (She hasn't even really taken a liking to solids either. But I can't blame her... baby food doesn't taste very good.) In addition to this last, heartbreaking event, she has also been EXTREMELY hungry before bed. She just wants more milk I guess?
So this is why I'm moving onto a lactation diet. Hopefully this diet will help increase my milk supply while still allowing me to lose weight.
1. Drink lots of water.
2. Eat lots of oatmeal, and avoid refined carbs (white bread, white rice, noodles)
3. Eat lean protein, but not too much fish (although I REALLY love fish)
4. Lots of fruit and vegetables.
I just hope I have enough time to prepare the food to follow such a diet. I have a feeling that I will be relying on the microwave a lot in the next few weeks. =)
